**Job Title: Remote Medical Records Clerk**
**Overview:**
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Medical Records Clerk to join our team remotely. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing and maintaining patient records, ensuring they are accurate, up-to-date, and accessible for healthcare professionals. This position offers the flexibility of working from home while contributing to a crucial function within the healthcare system.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Manage and organize electronic and paper patient records according to established policies and procedures.
- Enter, retrieve, and update patient information in the medical records database with a high level of accuracy.
- Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times, adhering to HIPAA regulations and company privacy policies.
- Respond to requests for medical records from healthcare providers and authorized parties efficiently and accurately.
- Assist with regular audits of records to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Coordinate with various departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure that the medical records are complete and up-to-date.
- Provide support in the transition of physical records to electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Perform other clerical duties related to the maintenance and organization of medical records as required.
**Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in health information management or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in a medical, healthcare, or office setting is preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite and familiarity with medical records software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of medical terminology and HIPAA compliance regulations is advantageous.
