Red Bike Advisors a 100% virtual tax & accounting firm with team members located all over the United States and world with headquarters in Wilmington, NC. We provide accounting, tax strategy & filing, financial advisory, tax controversy & resolution, and fraud & forensic investigation services to business and individual clients.

We are seeking a  Contract Bookkeeper to join our growing accounting team to help drive this mission forward. As a Contract Bookkeeper, you will be part of an elite stable of bookkeepers who pick up large catch-up and clean-up projects, deliver closed books by deadline and ready to be handed off to monthly bookkeepers.  

Team members who thrive at our firm have impressive time management skills, are self-starters, take pride in the quality of their work, and most importantly, put the client experience front and center. 

Areas of Responsibility 

• Take new messy clients and clean up their bookkeeping, streamline processes, connect bank feeds, update chart of accounts, then hand it off to teammate for regular monthly bookkeeping 

• Be comfortable working in the unknown, often with several years’ of backwork 

Catch-Up and Cleanup KPIs: 

• 6 months or less of cleanup : Delivered to client within 30 days of data received. Bookkeeper: 20 days. Review/Points to Clear: 10 days. 

• 6-12 months of cleanup : Delivered to client within 60 days of data received. 
  Bookkeeper: 40 days. Review/Points to Clear: 20 days. 

• > 12 months of cleanup : Delivered to client within 90 days of data received.  
  Bookkeeper: 70 days. Review/Points to Clear: 20 days.

Expectations for Remote Contract Work 

• “Core” hours overlapping with other team members to collaborate efficiently 

• A commitment to meeting turnaround times

• We are growing, and there may be opportunities to move to full-time contracting or W-2 employment on the Accounting Team.

Qualifications and Experience 

• 3+ years experience in accounting and bookkeeping 

• 3+ years experience in QuickBooks Online 

• Double or Canopy experience a plus 

• Exposure to U.S. taxes a plus  

• Familiarity with a variety of software applications, such as  Microsoft Office, RightTool, project management software, and Adobe, and the ability to quickly learn new programs.  

Pay Range

• US : $20-30/hour depending on experience. Pay is designed to reward efficiency, adherence to deadlines, and accuracy and is based on a percentage of the overall fee.
• Overseas : High market rates, depending on experience. Pay is designed to reward efficiency, adherence to deadlines, and accuracy and is based on a percentage of the overall fee.
